HVUT Form 2290

WHO IS REQUIRED TO FILE A 2290 FORM?

We will complete and electronically file the 2290 form for your company.

If you have any vehicles 55,000 pounds or more, you are required to file HVUT Form 2290.

You will be required to have the following:

  • Your employer identification number (EIN)
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN) of each vehicle
  • The taxable gross weight of each vehicle

The 2023-2024 annual Heavy Vehicle Use Tax Form 2290 filing deadline is August 31, 2024.

If you have vehicles with a combined gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more, the IRS requires you to file Heavy Vehicle Use Tax Form 2290 each year by August 31.

Any time you purchase and register a new vehicle of 55,000 pounds or more,  you must file a new Form 2290 listing only the new vehicle(s) and it must be filed by the end of the month following the month that vehicle is first used on public highways. Failure to meet the HVUT deadline could put your vehicles at risk of being placed out of service.
